The Peace of God
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again- rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience god’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-9
- Peace should be an inward thing, not just outward. In other words, you shouldn’t just have peace w/ your neighbors, you should also have peace w/in yourself.
- Being worried means we don’t fully trust God.
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:25-26
- ”Worrying is the same thing as banging your head against the wall. It only feels good when you stop”
I am leaving you with a gift- pace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
- KEYS TO PEACE:
- Prayer
- Nothing is too small or too big to tell God. For example, sometimes we want to tell God something that we think is so small and that leads us to think we shouldn’t even bother mentioning it. Other times, we feel like our problems are so big that we feel bad to go to God for it. When this happens, we’re making our problems bigger than our God.- Thanksgiving
- Remember what God has done for you in the past.- Dwell on the positives
- We don’t know what’s going to happen, only God knows.
- Count your blessings!- Obedience to God’s word
- How obedience leads to peace:
a. Can avoid pitfalls
b. Sincere in relationship w/ God
c. Emphasizes you to look beyond ourselves and help others
